The three most popular adult bike types are road bikes, mountain bikes and hybrid bikes. Each one is built for a different kind of riding. Pick the wrong one and your cycle will feel slow, uncomfortable or fragile. This guide makes the choice simple.

Choose a road bike if…
You want speed and fitness, you ride mostly on good paved roads (for example Karachi's Sea View or Islamabad's Margalla Road), or you want to join group rides and long weekend loops. A road bike like the Felt Z85 is light, fast and efficient, but its thin tyres do not like potholes and gravel. See all road bikes.
Choose a mountain bike if…
Your roads are broken, dusty or flooded, you want to ride trails or northern areas, or you want one tough bike for everything. Wide tyres, a suspension fork and disc brakes make an MTB like the Mogoo Epsilon XCT the most practical cycle for most Pakistani cities. It is slower on smooth roads. See all mountain bikes.
Choose a hybrid bike if…
You will commute to office or university, ride for fitness in the city, and want comfort without the low racing position. A hybrid like the Scott Metrix has flat handlebars like an MTB and light 700c wheels like a road bike. See all hybrid and city bikes.
Still not sure?
