The right accessories make every ride safer, more comfortable and more useful. You do not need everything on day one. This guide lists the cycle accessories that matter most for riders in Pakistan, in order of importance.
Safety first
- Helmet. The most important accessory. Choose one that fits snugly and sits level on your head, just above the eyebrows.
- Front and rear lights. A white front light and a red rear light help cars and bikes see you at dusk, at night and in dust. USB-rechargeable lights are easy to keep charged.
- Bell or horn. Pakistani roads are busy. A loud bell warns pedestrians and riders ahead of you.
- Lock. A strong U-lock or thick cable lock protects your bike when you park it. Lock the frame, not only the wheel.
Comfort on the road
- Water bottle and cage. Karachi and Lahore heat is serious. Carry water on every ride longer than 30 minutes.
- Gloves. Padded gloves reduce hand pain on long rides and protect your hands if you fall.
- Mudguards. Keep water and mud off your clothes in the rainy season.
Carry more
- Rear carrier rack and side bags. Perfect for commuting, shopping and touring. Our Rear Carrier Rack + Dual Side Bags carries up to 25 kg and comes with two side bags with zip pockets and reflective strips, for Rs 15,000.
Keep rolling
- Pump and puncture kit. A small hand pump, tyre levers and a spare tube or patch kit fix most flats in minutes.
- Upgrade parts. A lighter wheelset is one of the best upgrades for a road bike. The DT Swiss Axis 2.0 Road Wheelset 700c clincher wheelset fits 8, 9 and 10-speed rim-brake road bikes, for Rs 25,000.
